Dr. Dong is a professor, chief physician and doctoral tutor of Gastroenterology at Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. Recently, he is a member of higher school teaching steering committee in general medicine of Ministry of Education, of General Practitioner Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and the vice-president of Medical Education Institute of Hubei province. His research interests cover the basic and clinical research of gastrointestinal tumors and inflammatory bowel disease as well as medical education research. So far, Dr. Dong has published over 200 peer-reviewed manuscripts in scientific journals, including ACS Appl Mater Interfaces, Inflamm Bowel Dis, J Gastroenterol Hepatol, PLoS One and Tumour Biol. Additionally, he has published 13 textbooks or academic monographs as editor-in-chief. He has received 7 scientific awards in his research field, of which one is the second grade award of teaching achievement of national college and university, two the third grade award of Hubei province natural science, one the second grade award of Hubei province scientific and technological progress and one the first grade award of teaching achievement of college and university in Hubei province.
