Dr. Zhongyuan Xia is currently a professor and director of department of anethesiology at Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. He leads the department to commit to providing clinical excellence in perioperative care as well as training of future anesthesiologists and scientists. His academic and research fields include basic and clinical research of peroperative protection of important organ especially pharmacological(anesthetic) preconditioning and postconditioning in diabetic cardiomyophathy. Dr. Xia has received over several scientific awards in his research field, of which 2 were the second grade award of progresses of science and technology of Hubei province. Besides, he owned 4 national patents. Dr.Xia is the deputy editor of the Practical clinical Anesthesia Procedures, Anesthesia Management of Patient with Myocadial Ischemia and Cerebral Ischemia and Anesthesiology of General practitioners, the editorial board Member of Elderly Anesthesia and Practical clinical Therapeutics. He also participated in translation of Miller Anesthesiology. Dr. Xia has published over 200 articles,of which 40 were in peer-reviewed scientific journals such as Diabetes, Crit Care Med, Anesth Analg, PLoS One, Injury, Oxidative Medicine and cellular Longevity. He is a regular invited reviewer for a whole range of journals and grant bodies(NSFC). He is currently serving as principal investigator for several multi-center clinical trials. Dr.Xia is a Fellow of the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology, the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He is also the standing committee of Chinese Society of Cariothracic and Vascular Anesthesiology, the director committee of Hubei Medical Association of anesthesiology.
