The major research results of professor Jiang Hong’s team caused a sensation in 2017 annual meeting of American College of Cardiology (ACC)

March 18, the core member of the "Neural Rebalance" research team led by Professor Jiang Hong, Yu Lilei, associate professor of cardiovascular medicine, reported in the 66th Annual Meeting of American College of Cardiology (ACC) a research result titled "Optogenetic Modulation of Cardiac Sympathetic Nerve Activity to Protect Against Ventricular Arrhythmias", caused great attention of global authoritative cardiologists, and won the first place in 2017 ACC Chinese original research scoring.

Patients with malignant ventricular arrhythmia, have a risk of sudden death at any time due to cardiac sympathetic over-activity. If a wireless optogenetic stimulator was implanted in such patients, it could be triggered by the smart phone’s bluetooth when the patients felt heart discomfort, thus quickly inhibiting the overactive heart sympathetic nervous system, blocking in advance a malignant arrhythmia so as to save lives. The results of this research provide a scientific basis for this idea. (Interpreted by Dr. ZHANG Zheng)
