Chinese and Italian medical experts carried out medical exchanges in Wuhan
More than 20 medical experts from Italy, and more than 200 medical workers from over 50 hospitals from Xinjiang, Hainan, Henan, Hunan, Hubei, etc., gathered at Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University on September 16 to participate in the series of activities of “Sino-Italian Medical Cultural Week”.
The Sino-Italian medical cultural exchange event, hosted by Wuhan University, lasted from 16th to 18th September. Around 20 Italian experts participated in themed forums such as “Cardio-cerebrovascular Diseases”, “Tumors and Surgery”, “Emergency Medicine and Nursing”. They also went into the relevant clinical departments and worked with Chinese experts to discuss issues about teaching rounds and clinical difficult cases.
At the opening ceremony of the event, Professor George Cabin, head of the Italian medical delegation, chairman of the Italian Emergency Medical Association and the professor of the University of Turin Medical School, said that the medical cooperation between Italy and China has always been an important part of Sino-Italian technical cooperation. Over the past 20 years, many university hospitals in Italy have established cooperation and exchange relations with Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. It is hoped that this event will build a new bridge for Sino-Italian medical and cultural exchanges.
Since 1997, more than 100 young and middle-aged experts from Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University has went to Italy to study and communicate. Italy also regularly sent experts to China for exchange visits, and have sent young doctors to Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University for internship observation. In March 2015, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University also formally signed an agreement with the Humanit University Hospital in Italy to establish the relationship of a “Sister Hospital”.
During this year's event, Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University also signed an agreement with Italy's Humanits University to deepen bilateral cooperation. The two sides will continue to carry out all-round multi-level exchange activities, including medical education, scientific research, management training, personnel exchanges.
